Why I Have This Blog!!

I decided to have this blog because I see so many others documenting their weight loss journeys and I wanted to be able to do the same. I named it "Journey To A Size 10" because that is the size that I think I would be happy at. I'm not that tall or big framed to begin with, I am really thin and small framed with "extra baggage". By "Extra Baggage" I mean fat!! I've given birth numerous times and never really got my body back to where it was before I had kids. I just let the weight stay there. Also cultural influences dictate that I be "thick". But I'm not happy like that.

Currently I am a size 16. I just gave birth a little over 5 weeks ago. Before birth, I weighed somewhere between 160-165. Which was an okay weight for me. I was about a size 14, still thin enough to be happy and "healthy" enough to be accepted by my people. But really, I wasn't happy. I weighed myself the other day, before eating anything for Thanksgiving and I was a whopping 185 pounds. When I calculate everything, I only lost about 10-13 pounds after having the baby. I might have lost more, but I continued to eat like I was still pregnant, without actually being pregnant. I am now changing my diet and I am actually going to start exercising daily. It will be hard to do at first, but it's something I really want to do.

I think being at a size 10 will keep me happy mentally. Someone I speak to on a daily basis said I should set a goal and by that she means, set something in the future that will force me to wear something that doesn't cover me up and will have me in front of a group of people that will basically judge me based on my physical appearance. A little known secret about me is back in 1998 and 1999, I was fortunate enough to have been selected to audition for the Chicago Luvabulls. If you don't know who or what they are, they are the dance team that performs and represents the Chicago Bulls (Chicago's NBA team). Another more known thing about me is that I absolutely love Pageantry. All aspects of it. From directing (which I haven't done in almost 4 years) to competing. Every aspect of it. I have competed live before, but it's been a few years. So she suggested either I force myself to audition for the Chicago Luvabulls again or compete in a pageant. I'm weighing both options heavily. I want to do both and probably could do both, but I have such a short attention span and so little free time here in the house, that I would only be able to focus on one. But it would be good to do both. Maybe I'll do both. What do you think?

I have put a poll on this blog so that those of you who come here and visit can vote. In the end, it is up to me. But I like to get opinions of others.

And whatever I decide to do. If you vote in the poll and let me know who you are. I promise, that when I make the Luvabulls or win the pageant...you have an autograph coming from me. (I sound really confident, don't I??? :-)
